This is our fortnightly community and communications update, for the latest update on the engineering front, check out last week’s update.
From the blog…
We had a light past couple of weeks on the blog. If you haven’t seen the 1.1.2 release announcement yet, be sure to check it out.
We also just published What’s New in Sapling which serves as an overview of the changes in the next Zcash network upgrade.
Events
Last week, we presented at BIP 007 in Odessa, Ukraine. And this week, one of our engineers was a teachers assistant at the Programming Blockchain seminar in Denver. We also provided sponsorship to cover a student’s attendance to the seminar. This was the 16th edition of the workshop and we’re happy to have been able to support the effort of education developers on blockchain programming.
Next week, Zooko is spending an evening at the Boulder Blockchain meetup. A good amount of the Zcash team will also be there so definitely join if you can. He is doing an informal Q+A and the meetup organizer has arranged for outside questions via r/zec and a livestream of the event for folks not in the area to watch live. Once they share the livestream link, we’ll share it on Twitter.
On the 23rd, we’re participating in the Boston Women in Blockchain meetup for a special event on Zcash and blockchain privacy.
Speaking of meetups… myself and the Zcash Foundation are investigating how to ramp up Zcash meetups. Stay on the lookout for an announcement and get in touch with me if you’re interested in starting a Zcash meetup in your area! And check out the SF Bay area and Boston Zcash user meetups if you happen to live in those areas.
And if you haven’t read the Zcash Foundation’s recap of Zcon0, check out the forum thread and share your feedback there if you attended! The planning crew is meeting next week to do a retrospective and think about Zcon1 so any final feedback for us before we meet would be very much welcomed!
That’s all for this week!
