This is our fortnightly engineering update, which happens after the conclusion of each 2-week engineering sprint. You can check out last week’s update for recent news on community and communications.
Note that until further notice, the documentation team has been dissolved and its duties have been assumed by other engineering teams. Therefore, there will be no distinct documentation update.
This team focuses on development of the zcashd client, lightwalletd, librustzcash and protocol upgrades. Follow along with team discussions in the Community Chat #community-arborist channel.
“zcashd version 2.0.6 was released, which included minor improvements. The team is focused on reviewing the insight PRs and getting zip208 implemented for the 2.07rc. We were able to get a couple of small community and tech debt PRs merged. We have also been working on librustzcash review and making some improvements to our bls381 code.“
Development Infrastructure Team
The Development Infrastructure team ensures developers have the tools and infrastructure they need. Join this team in the #dev-infrastructure 1 chat channel.
“We are finishing out the remaining Debian 9 updates from v2.0.6 release, migrating zcon1 swag app components, standing up initial CI system for lightwalletd, and continuing maintenance work on new website infrastructure“
This team is intended to work on projects that interface with external parties not including the zcashd
core client and handles business development in the phases after initial contact by providing technical insight and support.
“The ecosystem team continues to support the reference wallet team, external integrations, and work to merge insight explorer code changes into zcashd. We are hoping to have the insight changes all approved for version 2.0.7.“
This teams current charter is to build a Zcash reference wallet. Follow along with team discussions in the Community Chat #community-wallet-team channel.
“The reference wallet team made great progress on improving the reliability of lightwalletd as well as taking a lot of the items we learned from the Zcon1 swag app and integrating them into our libraries and our UX philosophy around shielded wallets. We are focusing on increasing iOS support in librustzcash, continuing to improve lightwalletd reliability, and partnerships to improve shielded light wallet adoption in the ecosystem.”
Product Team
This team leads product decisions and feature prioritization.
“Product priorities remain the same as last week and will be reassessed in our meeting next week to account for the delivery of v2.0.6, as well as to incorporate any newly gathered information. Some areas of current research and information gathering include multisig for shielded transactions and scaling wallets with many z-addresses.“
