This is our fortnightly community and communications update, for the latest update on the engineering front, check out last week’s update.
Overall, there is a lot of heads-down work being done in anticipation of the 2.0.0 release, Sapling, website rebranding and policy to facilitate more Zcash meetups. This week’s communication update is light since most of this is ongoing.
FYI: that the 2.0.0 release scheduled for this Monday (Aug 13) is most likely going to slip to later in the week. We’ll have more details of what’s included in the release in the release announcement blog but it’s important to understand that 2.0.0 should be the first Sapling compatible release with the hardcoded Sapling activation height. You can follow along with zcashd development process in the community chat #zcashd-team channel.
From the blog…
We released the initial videos of a series called Perspectives. These are clips from recorded interviews at Zcon0 and we’ll be adding more to the series overtime.
Events
Last week, a few of us attended the Decentralized Web Summit hosted by our friends at the Internet Archive. (Who, by the way, accept ZEC for donations!)
Next week a few of us are going to RustConf in Portland. Zcash Company is sponsoring and we’ll also have booth at the event. We’re also participating in a meetup the evening before the conference about using Rust for blockchain development.
